i was working at the stereo shop and i was messing with the new decks in the demo board, when the radio station cut from song and went to the radio DJ talking to his sister who was in new york, and a block away from the tower when the first plane hit, so i ran to the old floor model TV we had sitting there and plugged it in and couldn't get anything, so i wheeled it to the back of the shop, right to the bay door, plugged it in, and took the roll of speaker wire, tied one end to one of the hinges and rolled up the bay door, then cut the wire and wired it into the tv, turned it on and not even 5 mins later the second plane hit, people in the plaza walked by to see the updates, i had 4-5 people at a time all day long in the back watching tv, and that whole day i didnt have 1 customer come into the store or a phone call
my wife on the other hand, she was working at an airport at the time, she was on the radio taxiing in planes and trying to find places to park them and leaving the runway open, the planes sat at the airport for more then 8 hours and nobody could get on or off plane, i can't imagine being a passenger on any of those planes that day
and i flew in from Cuba yesterday afternoon and nobody in the airport going there or back even looked at my passport, i figured they wouldve been a little more cautious around this time of year but i guess not
R.I.P
never forget
