My chiauau recently started acting strange. She looked like she didn't feel well. So today I took her into the vet to be looked at. At one point when the girl was asking me questions about what I thought was wrong the topic came up about was she eating. I said I think so and every night when I come home I give them one of those supposedly all natural chicken jerky treats. She said it isn't the Waggin Train is it? I said yeah why? She said the Waggin Train treats have been poisoning the dogs and all the vets have been getting dogs in with these symptoms. At one time they were recalled but then the FDA ok'ed them to continue sales. The vet said he has only had one dog die so far. But if this is one vet what about all the vets in the country? So now I have a rising bill so far of $700 due to my dog having pancreatis and is having to stay at the vet till monday so they can run IV's. These treats are coming from China and is just another example of them screwing us. WHEN THE HELL ARE WE GOING TO WISE UP AND STOP BUYING FROM THESE ASSHOLES?!?!?! Well, the vet called this morning. She passed away last night. The said a normal enzime count is around a hundred and hers were over a thousand. Oh well at least now she isn't sick anymore.

We looked into various foods and treats for our pibble, and most foods and treats and full of fillers anyways. We stated looking for products that the first few ingredients are meat, instead of corn, or corn by product, or fillers of some sort. Rachael Ray (food network cooking star/famous chef) has her own line of dog food and treats. First ingredients are real food. Not fake food like mcdonald's sells people. Probably one of the best things we did for our dog. We figured the less that goes into her food, the more real stuff she's actually eating as opposed to man made items. We've stated doing the same with our diet so long as we're eating at home. Using more fresh ingredients instead of pre processed stuff.

I feel for you. That Chinese shit killed my little black cat,"May".

Me and my wife both loved her as she never hardly made a sound. She had a little black dot at the bottom of one of her slit like pupils in her eyes. It looked like an exclamation point {!}, when you looked at her left eye.

I held her in my arms and watched those eyes close forever, one hot July afternoon.

I saved the tainted cans of cat food, but nothing ever came of it.

Its hard not to hear them romping around the house, or jumping in your lap , and all of the other things you take for granted when they are around, but every day it gets a little easier, until you are left with the warm memories.

Not trying to thread-jack or detract from your pain. I concur. I find it odd that many, if not most, people do not realize the percentage of products we, and our animal friends, use on a daily basis come from China. The same country we know to have deplorable working conditions and cheap methods resulting in faulty merchandise or tainted food products.

For me, it applies to medicines as well. My mother's cat (which was mine until she kindly adopted her) essentially died from what we could tell was a bad reaction to a steroid shot for allergies. A simple allergy shot.

To make matters worse, there are people all over the internet warning against it. Google "cortisone shot cat", and here's the first hit:

Oh, and don't let your cat (or your dog, for that matter), get the 3 year rabies shot. My brother's cat died of cancer at the injection site of the shot. Found out later that vets are discontinuing its use in cats due to the link to cancer and leukemia. Something about the agent used to extend the rabies protection from 1 to 3 years.

Sorry for your loss.. it is horrible when we lose a family member..

BUT...

Like people Doctors, vets can only guess, and "manufacturers" play on that "what people dont know" Dogs & cats are carnivores, they are not designed to eat "kibble" 90% of the kibble is garbage fillers, usually corn, or rice. Both of which no animal in the wild would ever touch.

A lot of people assume that a raw diet is too expensive. My Sisters dogs are 13yr/old Hybrids they're the last 2 of that litter, and since 8 weeks they've only ever been fed a raw diet. Each dog only eats a 1/4 pound of ground meat a day, mixed with veggies. It costs my sister $200 p/month to feed her dogs.

Jasper tips the scales at almost 200lbs & Pandora @ 70lbs.
