Thanks for the kind words guys......hocbj23..NO rattle cans here on anything I own or ever owned. I have been in the body shop business for more than 15 years. Rattle cans are for guide coat only....Stripped the burb to bare metal and epoxy primed so I could find the rust. Also to seal the metal while I get around to doing body work. Did a quick spray of the interior so I could put the seats and carpet in to drive to the Good-Guys show here a few years ago. It will end up getting redone as we used single stage and it looks like crap. Sorry to dissapoint you there hoc...

No dissapointa me.That was just a general comment at primer work in general,LOTS of primer runnin around on this site.Lol. cant wait to see some real paint.I never thought doggies or trucks in general looked good in flat anything.Burban looks good by the way, will look great in some slick paint.BJ

I agree...I think the whole primer forever thing is over done and old.....I have so many things going that getting one painted is big......I was supposed to get the body work and paint done on mine prior to her hood and roof getting damaged.

I'm with you guys. Primer sucks, but when you consider the cost of a good paint job, you have to consider the amount of money involved.
1) New project truck $1200
2) new engine for said truck because the one that was in it wasn't as cherry as the previous owner stated $1200
3) New interior $500
4) bagged suspension $1500
5) quote for candy apple red paint $4500 !!!!!!
6) quart of flat paint and cheap gun $300 or 12 rattle cans : $48 bucks

For a b-series truck, paint might be the most expensive part of the build. I can't imagine how much it would be to paint that 'burban!

oh I agree......A complete paint job at the shop I am at is high....I tell people when they ask anywhere from 4 to 6 grand possibly more depending on how much body work they want done. Color changes can more than double that if you want it done right. I have an advantage of doing all the work myself and only having to pay for the materials I use.....what I cant do myself I barter for alot of it.

W=e=l=l=l doggies. Back in the day, I used to do my own sanding , taping and prep work, buy the paint and a fellow would shoot my cars/trucks on a Saturday for me.Cost me little besides paint. I dont know if that approach is available anymore, but it sure saved me some bucks.I guess everything is more expensive these days. One car he did for me had 17 coats of Tuxedo Black lacquer on it,wet sanded by me between coats.Looked like u could walk thru the paint into the car. Ah,those were the days.Lol. bj
