I've been doing some research and trying to put stuff together to build an awd vr6 mk1 vw rabbit, but I really miss having a mini-truck. So I'm going to be parting out my 4x4 and was wondering:

Has anyone done an awd setup on a mini-truck, not trying to be mazda-specific, but if you know of a mazda, that would be awesome. Do you think it would be possible? Would a bagged vehichle be able to use the awd or would it kinda be worthless?

any feedback would be awesome

you could do it you would just have to use the upper control arm for lower bag plate. would be alot of measuring but would be pretty sweet if you had a nice mean engine to power them.

if I did it, I would source all my parts from a B5 Passat VR6 AWD, turbo the VR6 and run MS, which should be able to push 350-400+ HP. The engine would sit sideways in the bay rather then longitudaly, and a body drop would be a little easier due to not having the tranny under the cab, just have to have a tunnel for the driveshaft to the rear. it would also have the IRS from the passat. I've been thinking about this for awhile. Going with a VR6 would make it easy on me, cuase I'm use to working on VW's and they can make good amounts of power and they already come in awd options.

the other cool thing, is that VR6 passats are 5 lug, and most are rear disc, they arent that wide, so it should fit under the truck, and I could run some really nice VW/Audi rims.

awesome man, if you have any pictures of the suspension, i'd be interested, I think I have figured out an awesome way to do it, just need to gather everything and plan it out now.

save yourself alot of time and money and buy a b2600 4x4!
jks.
I've been thinking of that, if i had a huge budget i'd source a Subaru WRX STi and find out how to mount the whole driveline to the truck. Think of it: 450hp with some mods, full time AWD, adjustable coilovers. That think you kick ass, and be a mean sleeper.

I bagged this about a year ago. Full time 4wd.Everything still works.Had to plate the upper arms and mount the bags to them.
