my friends are convincing me to swap in either a sr20det or a 13b into my 2600, i am wondering if any of you have done this swap? also if anyone knows how tough the rear end is................my buddy has a 327 in his 2200, he is on rear end #3 @279 hp, the sr20 will push around 330 hp and the b13 280 hp, my rear suspension is sweet and i'd hate to have to redo it AGAIN if i blew the rearend

any help or thoughts would be sweet

thanks

well.. my buddy has a 327 in his mazda.. and has had no problems with the rear end.. and a guy in Daytona has the 13b w/ factory tranny modified to work w/ factory rear end.. and he hasn't had a problem yet either.

why don't you build a KA? the sr20det is a nice stock boosted motor, but tha KA is easier to find usually, and it has a lot of potential...the SR20 just got popular because of the stock internal strength and stock turbo...the KA will out do the SR in every aspect if you build it the same way

but the SR20 would be a nice shock factor

330 hp SR? What all is done to it? Thats pretty good hp numbers for a stock 220ish hp engine...

And the sr isnt a very torquey engine, which is what will rip your rearend apart...

cool, i had thought about a ka motor too, but the too motors that are available are already built up in car that have been wrecked from racing

i am not sure what is done to the sr20 but in a 240sx dyno'd 328 hp

Basically all you'd need to work out is wiring, mounts, driveshaft and tranny... heh :-p

and you have the room.. so you could run an RB25dett to be fancy.. i think thats what they are called.. the bluebird motor??

RB26 mullet

its the 2.6 skyline motors...DETT code is twin turbo, came in the Skyline GT-R's, i think only on the R33 and R34;s, the R32's came had a diff motor platform i think..not sure

but dam, 300hp would be cool, people are running stock mazda rear ends with a stock 302 all the time, they hold up fine...you probnably wouldn thave any problems

They hold up, but will break after a while... I have a buddy who went through 1 every couple weeks, albeit he drives like amadman...
He now has the b2600 rearsubframe with the RX7 TT LSD, its awesome

fack , having an rb 25 or 26 dett would just be amazing, probably be really expensive for parts and shit tho because i don't think they have many of them in north america?

i just wanna be able to go to the track and run the 1/4 in a body dropped mini faster than most the sport compacts,oh yeah and drift like a mofo

thanks for the info guys, keep it commin
