Three days ago my key wouldn't turn at all so my neighbor put some lock ease (graphite) on it and he got it to work. then today I tried to start it up to go to work (deliver pizzas) and the key wouldn't turn again. I took my mustang down to Baxter's and got some of that lock ease for myself and spraid the same amount of it in and around the key ignition system and it still wouldn't work. I have also tried to turn the steering weel because in manuals sometimes it will lock up. but nothing I tried is working. so now what do I do. any ideas would be much appreciated. thanks. Neil

i had the same thing happen to me, sometimes you can actually put too much lock stuff in the cylinder and gunk it all up preventing the key from turning, the only option you may have is to get a new steering column, or ignition set up, or you could just put a push button start in there and hide a kill switch for the accesories, if you have a spare key try that one and if it works your other key is probably just too worn, or if you have a friend with a mazda try there key, i know that my key will open and start 2 of my friends mazdas, kind of scary but it may work

hope something works out for you bro

I do have an extra ignition switch w/ a key if you do end up needing it.

if your door locks work then you can pull the lock out and just use the backhalf to start it just take the covers off and with a pair of visegrips losen the bolts (thay look rounded off but thats how thay are supposed to be) take them out remove the screw in the back of the lock a white thing will come out with a black center stick a flathead in there and turn that will start the truck just like always you can then spray some cleaner in your lock and clean it out really good and try it again

also to save your self some bloody knuckles you can hit the tops of the bolts with a chisel, turning them in to a flat head screw then unscrew them

yea that to but mine came out easy with needlenose so it should come out better with visegrips

to take mine off i cut the tops with an angle grinder w/ a cut wheel on it.. makes quick flat heads.

shoulda seen me trying to get the lock part off my old mazda when i lost the key.......couldn't figure it out, i ended up using a slide hammer to snatch the lock mechanism out before i realized there were bolts on top of it......

sad part is i found the key the next day

sounds like the tumblers screwed in it.. mine did that, got a new one and fixed it....
