i brought my truck into my autotech class about 3 or 4 weeks ago and there was a bunch of oil on the tranny and oil pan so i wiped it off and changed the oil now its been leakin every now and then not a huge puddle but a few small ones but the oil stick still says its full when the engine was hot by the way i have an 89 b2200 standard cab with i think a 2.0 and i used valvoline (yeah i spelled it wrong) 10w30 4 quarts is this a common problem? could my pan be leakin or did i just do a shitty oil change?

how old is this truck.. yes its a common problem depending where the oil is leaking from. A oil pan gasket or in my case i need a new valve cover gasket..

its 15 or so years old when i got it there was a bunch of oil on top of the engine but i cleaned it off and it hasn't returned but its leakin oil i think around the pan and filter

uh.. make sure that the oil filter is in tightly.. and that you sealed it w/ clean oil. As for the oil pan gasket.. its not that big of a deal.. just really messy.

This is a very common problem with an oil pan gasket. It is also caused by the age of your car.
