Hey I was wondering if anybody could help me on this topic. I have an 88 Mazda B2200 and on the valve cover right behind the oil cap there is a hole. That hole has a hose that goes to the air cleaner and the air cleaner has a sponge in it where that hose connects to it on the inside. It keeps getting a ton of oil in it and in my air cleaner. It is making a real mess, didnt know if anybody could answer why it is doing this or has any help for me on what I can do to stop it or anything else. thanks

Rings possibly. If you are getting a lot of blow by the rings may be letting oil past.

U COULD HAVE A OIL RETURN PASSAGE STOPPED UP IN THE HEAD, IF SO, IT COULD LEAD TO OIL POOLING UP IN THE HEAD, AND IT GETTING SPLASHED BACK THROUGH THAT HOSE. IF SO, YOU COULD PULL THE COVER, AND TRY AND CLEAN OUT THE OIL RETURN PASSAGE. I HAD A BUD THAT HAD AN @ '85 S10 THAT HAD THAT PROBLEM, AND IT FIXED HIS....

NOT EXACLY SURE ON THE LOCATION, BUT WHEN YOU PULL THE VALVE COVER, YOU'LL SEE THE CAM, VALVE SPRINGS & ALL, ON THE "FLOOR" (FOR LACK OF BETTER WORD) OF WHERE ALL OF THIS MOUNTS THERE SHOULD BE A COUPLE OF HOLES THAT RUN THROUGH THE HEAD DOWN INTO A PASSAGE IN THE BLOCK, IF ONE OF THESE IS STOPPED UP, OIL WILL POOL UP, AND COULD GET SPLASHED UP INTO THE HOSE THAT RUNS INTO THE AIR CLEANER.

WHEN MY TRUCKS MOTOR WAS IN THE FINAL DAYS, I GOT OIL IN THE "SPONGE" IN MY AIR FILTER AS WELL, BUT THIS WASN'T THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH MINE, MY HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN, & THE GUTS OUT OF THE ORIGINAL CAT THAT MOUNTS TO THE EXHAUST MANAFOLD WERE CLOGGING THE EXHAUST PIPE THIS IS WHAT LED TO THE DEATH OF MY MOTOR. IT IS IN THE SHOP GETTING REBUILT NOW THOUGH!!

GOOD LUCK!!
