I read somewhere that the 2600i has the same trans as the rx7 except the 5th gear is different to give it more top end? Is this true?? If I were to take it to a transmission place how much do you think this conversion would cost??

i think its the 2200 and 2000 with the same tranny as the rx7

I DID SOME CHECKING ON THE SWAP,
THE 84-89 1.3L 13B RX7 GSL & LE NON-TURBO, AND
THE 86-89 1.3L 13B RX7 CONVERT. NON-TURBO USE THE SAME SIZE CLUTCHES 225MM (8 7/8"), AND HAVE A 15/16"-22 SPLINE INPUT SHAFT. THE INPUT SHAFT IS THE SAME AS THE ONE ON THE B2000-B2200, OR 2.2L 626'S. I THINK THIS WOULD WORK, YOU WOULD JUST HAVE TO TAKE THE BELL HOUSING OFF OF THE TRUCK TRANNY, AND PUT IT ON THE RX7 TRANNY, AND THE SPEDO CABLE SHOULD BE A DIRECT HOOK UP TOO. I DON'T KNOW IF THE TAIL SECTION WOULD HOOK UP TO OUR DRIVE SHAFTS THO. WHILE LOOKIN, MIGHT COULD EVEN FIND A TRANNY WITH A SHIFTER STILL ATTACHED, WHICH WOULD BE LIKE A SHORT/SPORT SHIFTER IN OUR TRUCKS! STILL NOT SURE ON THE GEAR RATIOS IN BOTH THE TRANNYS, TRUCK OR RX7, BUT IT IS WORTH CHECKIN IN ON.

CAPS ARE COOL, & I 'M JUST LAZY, IT KEEPS ME FROM HAVING TO MOVE MY FINGERS SOO MUCH. I LEARNED THE COLUMBUS METHOD OF TYPING....FIND A KEY AND LAND ON IT, HAHA!

THANKS FOR THE LINK, I'LL CHECK IT OUT, I FOUND THREE TRANNY'S IN A JUNK YARD BOUT AN HOUR FROM MY PLACE, HE WANTS $300 EA., IT'S GOOD HE IS CLOSE BY CAUSE HE WON'T SHIP ANYTHING, I TRIED TO GET HIM TO SHIP A FENDER A WHILE BACK, NO DICE.

OK, SO I READ THE STUFF ON THE LINK, VERY INTERESTING
AND HELPFULL, THANKS!!

THE TRANNYS I FOUND ARE FROM THE 86-91 RX-7' GSL OR LE. SO THEY HAVE THE 15/16" -22 TOOTH SPLINE SHAFT, SAME AS THE B2200.

NOW FOR THE QUESTION, ARE THE GEAR RATIOS IN 1-3 GEARS THE SAME AS IN THE TRUCK IN THIS YEAR MODEL TRANNY?

HE WAS USING AN 83 MODEL TRANNY, AND IT WAS THE SAME IN GEARS 1-3. AS NOTED 4TH WILL BE 1:1, AND THE FIFTH WILL BE LOWER THAN THE 5TH IN THE TRUCK (FROM .858:1 TO .825:1), THUS GIVING MORE TOP SPEED, AND BETTER FUEL ECONOMY!

IF SO, I COULD TAKE THE BELL HOUSING, AND TAIL SECTION FROM THE TRUCK, AND PUT THESE ON THE CENTER SECTION OF THE RX7'S TRANNY, AND BOLT IT BACK IN THE TRUCK W/O HAVING TO TEAR INTO THE CENTER SECTION OF THE TRANNY (WOULD RATHER NOT). THIS SHOULD BE A DIRECT BOLT IN W/O HAVING TO MESS WITH THE TRANNY SUPPORT OR DRIVE SHAFT?
