Well folks, its that time. Its time when old coolant (basically water) sat around with iron block and aluminum head and electrolysis had fun and deteriorated one of my coolant passages enough to let coolant into the #3 cylinder.

Im lookin to get a replacement, and was wondering if there are any other mazda heads (from B trucks or any other mazda) that are directly interchangeable and are a direct swap. I really don't feel like changing my timing belt (esp since its like a year old)

And sorry to bring the topic back, but how much is needed to do a complete FI conversion, I know you need the manifolds, but what is done about ECU, or maybe fuel sending unit from gas tank?? Doesnt necessarily need to be turbo either. Oh yeah, im in CA and CA smog regulations suck.

any info is appreciated

well, ive stumbled across an idea. Does anyone know if I would be able to run the 12v F2T head (sans turbo) with the oem carb and setup without running into problems? Or are there issues concerning fuel delivery since the 12v head is usually mounted on a FI setup, or timing differences, or even manifold compatibility? And im not too sure if the 12v head has a mechanical pump like the 8v one.

I POSTED AN ANSWER TO A QUESTION IN THE 83 2.0 MOTOR INTERCHANGEABILITY WITH +86 MOTOR POST UNDER THE ENGINE FORUM.

THE F2T HEAD WILL BOLT UP TO THE BLOCK, BUT I BELIEVE THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST MANAFOLD FOR THE F2T MOTOR I.E. FUEL INJECTION THAT HEAD WAS RUN IN THE 626'S (88-91) AND IN THE FORD PROBE GT W/ TURBO (EARLY PROBE, NOT SURE ON THE YEARS MADE).
