Alternator upgrade ?

What are you using for charging duties ?? stock or upgraded - has anyone swapped to a different alternator?? What would be good for a swap ?

if you need more amps, carry it to a alternator repair shop, and they can rewind it to put out more amps than factory.

Im running a Gm 1 wire...

im running the stock 55amp altenator, beefed up to 95amps, works good for me

I'm running a 180 amp GM cs130. It almost bolted right in.

how hard was it to wire it up to work on the mazda?

Wiring wasn't bad at all once I found the wiring diagram for it. The plug in the back of the alt has 4 wires on it. The thick red one went to the charging post on the back of the alt, one went to the electric choke and the other went to the switched wire that tells the alt to I guess come on when the key is on and the 4th isn't used. I picked this 180 amp alt up on ebay for around $45.00 shipped. If you need to know exact colors or for more pics juet let me know.

cause i went to auto zone today to try to snag one but they employee did not know what vehicles they came on either, the 1 wire....or shit what car did yours come off of

I'm not sure what mine came off of. The next time I'm at the junkyard I will see if I can figure it out for you. It had a serpentine belt pulley on it when I got it if that narrows it down any. On ebay it was just listed as a 180 amp 1 wire GM alt.
