I recently got a 93 b2600i from my uncle for free. I got the truck started and it runs really great untill it gets warmed up. After about 20-30 mins it starts missing. It does it off and on only after its warmed up. (the temp guage says its normal temp but it seems really hot.) Could this be the start of an ecu problem? I already changed it once with one from the junkyard just to get it started. After the truck cools down its fine again. HELP?!?!?

hey im going to ask a friend about that check back for an answer tomorrow oh by the way i just left hawaii 3 months ago lived in waianae, pearl city, ewa beach and waialua my fiance lives in waikiki when shes not here

I had the same problem and it was the computer, I've had to put two in it so far in 5 years. There are some capicators that blow. open the computer up and see if they are blown! You can't miss them, they will be burnt, Black! Mine now has a cracked head and does the same thing again! Hope this helps

yea cracked heads and also check your plugs... Inproperly gap plugs can do this also. If it is to wide carbon deposits can build and cause plug not to fire. Also if it is the incorrect tempature plug.. You can get plugs hotter or colder then stock, the tempature I am talking about refers to how warm the plugs needs to be to burn off carbon deposits. A cold plugs can take a VERY long time at idle to burn off deposits and make plugs not fire.

I'm kinda leaning towards my ecu because when I put my old ecu in the same problem happens right when I start it but with the other ecu it does it only after it warms up (running at idle for about half hour). How can I tell if I have a cracked head???

this guy russ d is about the leading authority on mazdas hes been a friend of mine for years upon years and this is what he had to say take the oil cap off after you have run it a while, if there is exhaust coming out the il cap hole, you have the number one killer of B2600i's, a cracked head. They all crack, some let coolant in the exhaust, some let exhaust in the coolant, some let oil in the coolant, some let exhaust in the oil. But they ALL crack. Should have been a recall, now the only solution is a used head (used heads are just cracked heads that havent cracked yet) or a new casting from the dealer that has the defect fixed and only costs NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS BARE.

if the head is cracked, and you find a suitable replacement, before i put it on i would send it and have it cryo treated. they take the bare head, put it in a vaccum chamber, and put it under a vaccum, and slowly drop the temp to like -300 deg. then bringit back to room temp, and up to +300 deg. this will change the crystaline structure of the metal, increasings the "microscopic" surface area, and make it stronger, more ware resistant, and less likely to crack or warp. for more info on this type of treatment check out this link. for small price of what you pay for this to be done, it is well worth it in the long run. i have read several articles about this being done in the import /drifting scene, and nascar to various parts.

Thanks for the help guys. Anybody got more suggestions before I start ripping the head off? Is it possible to have a cracked head and not blow the head gasket?
