i just got a 91 Mazda MX6 non-turbo block with all new moly internals built at a shop here in town, and i want to swap it for the stock fi b2200 motor. now what kind of options do i have for this setup? i do not know stock hp/torq numbers on the mx6 stock and if anyone knows please post. also the stock b2200 tranny i hear fits up to that block. so i need some ideas on what parts will work on this block. i know how crazy these damn mazdas can be to work on so any help would be appreciated!!

that is an f2 block, the figures that Baggedb22 posted are for the mx-6/626 non turbo, which had the 12v head, it came in the 88-92 mx-6 & 626 na, and turbo motors, the turbo motors ran a lower comp. ratio than the truck and non turbo blocks. the truck came with the 8v head & has 2 springs per valve, where i think the 12v had one per cyl. the mx6/626 head has bigger intake and exhaust valves. true that the truck tranny will fit, also the 84-89 rx-7 non-turbos 5 speeds will fit, but you need the bellhousing off of the truck tranny, and possible the tailsection of the truck tranny aswell. if you are just wanting to swap it for the fi, take the truck head, put it on the mx-6 block, use your tranny. if you are wanting to keep the fi put your trucks intake back on it, if not you will need one off a carb'd truck. then you can reuse the stock exhaust, or get an aftermarket header. these are just a few things you can do, it all depends on what u are looking for in the motor. i'm having my b2200 motor rebuilt, and am looking to have @190 hp at the fly wheel when done.

hope this sheads a little light..

thanks for the info. in january im going to buy a mx6 head and have it port and polished but i need to know where i can get some performance parts to throw on the head. got a question though, am i going to need a new radiator? mine is brand new just bought a couple months ago.

no prob with the info.

nah, the radiator will be fine, you will just need the hoses for the truck not the car to make it work.

you can find performace parts at

i know you can get ferrera comp. plus valves, springs, valve seals and guides as far as a cam and such i don't know. i don't know if the truck header will work with that head or not, if you get one for the car, it won't run the right way(go under the engine for front wheel drive) i'd check the flange pattern on the truck head, and the mx-6 head if the same, the truck header would work.

if u need to know ne thing else halla...

im doing the same thing with a mx-6 turbo engine, however, one thing you wanna look for, im not sure bout the engine your talking bout, i noe the 89 enigne w/turbo that im putting in bolts up to my tranny, BUT the intake faces the firewall, as does the distributer....which leave me to think of just swaping the head and trubo onto my truck, and getting a cutsom intake manifold.....
