Are mazda's known to have a loud valve train in them cause mine makes a ticking noise it has 136000 miles its a 91 b2200 se5. I had another 91 b2200 and it had a 160000 miles on it and it didn't make the ticking sound my se5 makes.

could be the valves or the crankshaft.. and yes it is common. Typically if you run a gas improvement additive or higher octane gas it will make it quieter or temporarly eliminate the sound.. but sometimes it dosen't and that gets expencive.

My 86 b2000 does the same thing, it is pretty loud. Also it smells like I am burning oil I'm not shure why it smells this bad, but it drives great, it only has 86k orig miles. Not shure if I should be worried about the smell its making though
