Hey guys, I think my carb has died. I replaced so much crap on the engine, everything from Coil to Dizzy, and the truck started up fine, ran fine for about 20 mins of driving around town, then it started to shake and shudder when reaching the 2.5 - 3k RPM and then the RRPMs would drop to about 400 - 500 and would almost shut off. So I pull over in front of my house and it shuts off. So I go inside, change, and it wont start. The only thing that could be the problem is the carb, and some experianced peple told me that today.

So my question is, how hard is it to rebuild the carb? What needs to be replaced/repaired? Is it hard to install a nw carb from wreckers or something? or should I just not waste my time and get like a b2000 JDM motor? Mines a 88 b2200 5spd by the way. Your help and experiance would be most appreciated. Im so pissed off at my truck right now.
Hope to hear from you guys.

might also be a fuel clog its easy to replace a carb is too easy also man prob a 30 min job

I would check fuel first.. unplug the fuel line that goes into the carb and put the tip of it into an open cup. Have someone try to turn over the vehicle and if gas is coming out then start checking vacume lines. If all is good, then take the carb off and look into the bowls and jets and see if its clogged up (split into the two major parts and take out the jets and clean out w/ carb cleaner). Its not hard to rebuild it.. you will spend more time taking it off and putting it back on.

Allrighty, I checke the fuel and it flows freely. Its gotta be the carb. There are so many small rubber hoses around it, its crazy, whats the best way to label them so I re-hook everything up properly?

Well I took off the carb, labeled all the hoses going in and out, and cleaned the sucker, didnt know what to clean, so cleaned all that i could. Seems to be running fine now.

That sounds like the problem I'm having with my carb. Now I know where to begin, hmm maybe I'll just replace it with a Weber and my Offy intake

Ledevil, thats the best thing you can do is just replace the stock one with a weber!

what kind of shape is ur gas cap in?This is a closed system and with an inline fuel pressure gauge,my Dawg holds 2 to 2.5 pounds of pressure for 10-12 hours after being shut off.check the gasket on ur cap and spray wd-40around ur vacuum lines to see if they are leaking.bj
