if you set the carb up like it said in the instructions, the cam might be the prob as tskb2200 said, you may not have enough base timing advance,
also you wanted to know about all the vaccum lines, you have to use the advance line off the dizzy, and the line for the brake booster, all the rest you can do away with unless you have to worry about emission inspections, then it would be a good idea to keep the charcole canister hooked up.
