A wire to disable start-up

Ok, i wanted to know what wires i could tap into to disable the truck from starting. It's kinda like a cheap alarm. I'm going to put a switch in under my dash or somewhere and want to know what i could tap into to make it work. Has anyone done something like this before?

If you wanted to do this you could cut the starter wire and run it to a switch. The color black with a yellow line and it's located on the steering column with abunch of other big wires 12 gauge or so.

YOU NEED TO BREAK THE SWITCHED SIDE OF THE IGNITION, THIS IS THE WAY YOU HOOK UP ONE OF THE "START BUTTONS", BUT SINCE YOUR DOING IT AS A START DISABLE, JUST PUT THE SWITCH UP UNDER THE DASH, IT SHOULD BE RATED FOR MOMENTARY CONTACT THO, CAUSE IF YOU HAVE A CONSTANT ON, IT WILL BURN UP YOUR STARTER. NOT SURE
OF THE COLOR OF THE WIRE....SORRY!

Do you Smoke? If not you can use your cig. lighter as a kill switch.....with it out in the normal position you cant start the truck, when you push it in you can start it like normal. Just a thought.

That's a good idea, but unfortunatley i smoke . I have a spot to put i pull switch so no worries about that.

I was thinking about the starter wire but didn't know where it was located. I'll be doing some new wiring next weekend so i think taking it off the starter would work well .

well if the truck is a 5 speed, i wouldnt to the starter wire cuz all someone needs to do is push it down the street and pop the clutch, i would use the igniton wire, which will not turn on the coil and the fuel pump,, or u can just pull the fuel pump fuse, in the dash its real easy that way

what color is the ingnition wire??i noe its right on the steering coloumn but whitch one is it?? i can use a test light becasue nothing is connected right now....

Ignition wire is black with a white line.
