ok herez my problem i recently rewired by fuse box with a aftermarket one, i connected all the wires the correct way everything works except it doesnt start it doesnt even make that ticking noise, the blinkers work the lights work the horn, heat everyting and it just wont crank the engine is not seized, i checked the wires at the starter with a mutimeter and iam getting 12 volts,i also repalced the clutch at the same time so i had to drop the tranny and take the starter out maybe i put the starter in wrong????????? thanku

IF THE STARTER WAS BOUND UP, YOU WOULD STILL GET THE TICKING FROM THE SOLENOID..... DOUBLE CHECK YOUR IGNITION WIRING, HAVE SOMEBODY LOOK TO SEE IF THE STARTERS ENGAGING WHILE CRANKING
IT, IF THE STARTERS WORKING IT MIGHT BE IN THE IGNITION..

Maybe the switched 12V from the ignition switch to the solenoid is missing.

Quick test on starter:
1. Put the truck in neutral. Engage park brake.
2. Get a 3 foot jumper wire with alligator clips.
3. Connect one end to starter solenoid.
4. Connect otner end to battery 12V+
5. Starter should engage and crank the engine.
6. If starter does not engage, solenoid/starter is shot.

not to be off topic, but how did you take ur starter out? you didnt have to remove the tranny did you?

Cause my starter is about to go and i definatly dont wanna have to take the tranny out i can get the bottom bolt out but i cant get the top one out.

I took my starter out without dropping my tranny. I removed the bolts from the top and then dropped it down. It really hard to do this way.

ya but i got a 1983 mazda, not a 86-93 like most people do.

my problem is i cant get a grip on the top bolt, like i can get the wrench in there but i cant get a btie on it.

its a huge pain in the a** what i did was to, go underneth the truck put a socket on the bolt then use a bunch of extension pieces from the socket to the ratchet maybe about 3 feet and your socket wrench should end up around the shifter hole if standard and then just work from there if not try a ratchet combo wrench its going to take awhile.
