Hey, I just picked up a turbo'd ca18et from a Nissan 200, S12... I think i'm going to rebuild it and toss it in my truck. Any advice from guys who have put crazy motors in? This one is almost the same size as the stock motor. BTW I have a body dropped, bagged '88 B2200. Anyways, advice, comments?

What tranny are you going to use... because aren't the s12's and the 200sx's front wheel drive?

i was planning an sr20det swap but my friend is a mechanic in japan right now making huge cash, so i doubt he'll be back for quite sometime

CA18 is good for about 280 tops, the bottom end is like chocolate so you need to keep the power down. Better bet is the SR20, much improved and far better reliability.

ca18 with new internals. also it's free, and sr20's are not i plan on a full rebuild. the ca18 is potent enough and i've heard they are more torquey. My buddy knows people who have well past 300 hp on a ca18 with forged internals. As for the previous question. newer 200sx's are FWD the s12's are not. And i plan to use an s13 tranny from a 240sx. stronger input shaft.

I lived in Japan for 3 and a half years and owned 2 cars with ca18det s. (<----that's hard to make plural) The first was a stock s13 silvia and the second was a 180sx. I built the hell out of the 180 and had over 300 to the wheels easy. The main thing that makes the SR more reliable with big power is the oil squirters. You can get almost as much power out of the CA18. I'll try to get some pix of mine on here soon.

forget it, just get an rb26dett

that should make enough power LOL
