yea, so i got my truck a few days ago, 1987 b2000.. and ive been trying to get it to run properly.. it sat for a year, so it needed a little tune up.. it wasnt idleing, it would only stay runnign if i put my foot on the gas.. I thew some dry gas in the tank, put 5 gallons of fresh gas in, And sprayed in a little carb cleaner, and that seemed to do the trick.. Then i noticed after it ran for a while, It would start to smoke alot when i shut the motor down.. So i cheked the oil. it was a little low, So i added some.. then i checked the coolant.. it was like bone dry.. And if there was any in there, it wasnt much.. So i went out and bought some coolant, and poured it in, And it started pouring out the bottom of the motor.. not pouring, but it was a steady stream.

so i started taking it all apart, I got the pulleys off, Timing belt cover is off, timing belt is off. And thats pretty much where im at a standstill.. it looks like the coolant is coming from behind the gear in the middle that the timing belt runs on. The small one next to the tensioner, thats in the middle of the block, between the crankshaft and the cam.

My question is, what could this be? could it be just a bad gasket or seal somewhere? I really have no experience with this motor, so im kinda clueless right now. All i know is i need to get it fixed, And i cant drive it with the leak this bad.

How do i get the rest of this shit off? am i going to have to pull off the cam gear? the gear on the crankshaft just slid off.. Anyone have a problem like this?

Im going to stop in and see if i can get like a haynes manual for it after work today. But any help or advice you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.

its your water pump b.c ur water pump runs off of the timing belt

yea thats the waterpump sounds like the seal went bad in it and is leaking from the weap hole might need to grab a new one its not all that hard to change out theres like 6 bolts that hold it to the block and 2 that hold a water pipe to it you dont have to take off the cam gear off and while your at it might as well change the timing belt since its off

everythings new.. all the belts including the timing belt are new.. The guy i bougt it from just rebuilt the motor.. SO im guessing maybe he messed up with putitn the gasket back in.. Ill mess with it more tomorow. SOunds easy tho.. I was confused cus i didnt see a water pump. im used to chevy's where the water pump sticks out 10 feet and runs off the v-belt.. lol But yea, sounds easy.. im sure ill get it taken care of. Thanks guys!

yep definitely the water pump.. i took it off this morning.. took like 5 minutes, And i didnt even see a 0-ring like you were talking about.. i saw a channel where an o-ring should have been. But no o-ring. so im off to go buy another water pump.
