ARE YOU SURE IT IS THE GUAGE & NOT THE SENDING UNIT IN THE TANK?

AS FAR AS SIZES OF FUEL CELLS OR GAS TANKS, LOOK ON SUMMIT RACING, OR JEGS AT THE FUEL CELLS TO GET SOME KINDA IDEA ON THAT.

if you're not planning on doing any suspension work, you could get a longbed gastank if you have a std cab, excab gastank will work too, they are bigger by gallon or so

thank you all for all the input, and NYTRDR24 you are right it is the SENDING UNIT.

think i'm going with a 17 fuel cell

IF YOU ARE GOING TO RUN A CELL, THEN YOU NEED TO GET ONE WITH A BUILT IN SENDING UNIT, THE JAZ 16 GAL PRO-STREET THAT I'M LOOKING AT HAS A UNIVERSAL SENING UNIT SO THER SHOULDN'T BE ANY PROB WITH
IT & THE STOCK FUEL GUAGE...

if you use the "universal sender" it is usually a GM style which reads 0-100 (o empty, 100 full). The mazda reads ~90-0, so your gauge will work, albeit backwards. You'll amaze your friends by actually showing MORE gas when you arrive than when you left.

If you have the choice, get the older ford sender which reads ~80-10. Your gauge will work in the proper direction and indicate empty before you are actualy empty...

Russ what if you hook that up to an after market gauge like autometer. Would it still read backwards??

heres a link to the page of the jaz cells, the one with the sender i was going to get is a 16 gal 240-33 ohm.

russ d,
i know you've heard it a million times...you da man! i had asked around, not here tho...to find out what ohm range was needed to get the guage to work properly, that is why i was going to get the universal, but now that you
have said an 80-10 will work, they offer some 70-10 ones, which one would you go with?
