Ok, I have a 87 b2600 automatic and the motor is a turd and has been giving me trouble for about the last week. I've decided to do something about that but wanted to get some of your guys opinion. I'm going to either do a 350 or 302 unless their is something easier out there. How hard are these swaps? I'm just looking for general information on this and your experiences on them.

I would stick w/ a ford motor so the dizzy is in the front instead of the back of the motor. Makes it easier, because you won't have to clear the firewall.

Yeap, the 302s not a hard swap at all i an running a Ford 351 Winsor in my mazda, Just get the electronic dizzy, ignition module and the wires from the ignition module out of the parts car/truck, Then u just gotta run a good sized hot wire to the ignition module from there all your engine wires just plug in, and you should have power to the coil.

From there it depends if your bagged or not if not or just static drops it will make life much easier. Depending on how low u sent the motor you will probably have to notch the front crossmember. As for the motor itsself it sits in the engine bay real nice its just a little tight upfront without cutting the firewall. I had to run my electric fan on the outside of my rad behind my grill. I have a Nissan 240sx aluminum rad that fits nice and tight right between the bumper mounts.

You will have to get a driveshaft mad. Depends what tranny your gonna run u may have to beat back the tranny tunnel.

Hey bagged, what'd you get your motor out of? I actually had a 351 sit in my building for awhile out of an old T-bird lol...the really big ones Just didn't have the truck at that time.

What'd you end up doing for motor mounts?

I'd say Ford too. Not to be favorable. UMMn Mullet had a Good point. Aside from the fact it's FORD. Yeah! I'm not jumpin in either, I could tell many. My Nissan is looking for a 289. And that's just driveable... Both are seeking a V8. FKN do it.
