You found your problem. As Mike said, you only need one vacuum line and that is to the vacuum advance on the dizzy.
Plug the rest of the vacuum ports in the carb. You are running too lean due to vacuum leaks. Vacuum leaks will cause your high idle.
Once you plug all the vacuum ports, then start tuning the carb especially at idle. Above idle and wide open throttle, jetting controls the fuel mixture.
