hey guys, my truck is turning over and the timing is correct but it wont start up. i was wondering, is gas supposed to go from the rear to the carb just by turning the key or does the gas start flowing once the truck is on. thanks ahead.

will start flowing once the truck begins to turn over. the mechanical pump is powered by a camshaft lobe, so it will not pump unless the camshaft is turning which is only when startup and once the engine is running.

have you checked for spark as well?

yes the spark is good and so is the timing, do you think it could be the fuel pump cause im not getting any gas to the carbur. or the front fuel filter.

you could always take a bottle and put a little bit of fuel in it and then pour some in the carb and see if that helps start it enough to bring fuel up there and if it doesnt then it prolly is your fuel pump, but check the fuel lines, make sure they are not clogged. I had an old car that did this and I thought it was the fuel pump and it turned out that the line at the tank was clogged from rust and junk.

alright, i just replaced the fuel pump and it seems to be getting gas now but it still wont start up. any suggestions

is your #1 piston top dead center?
mazdaproject89   +1y
yeah, my number 1 piston is top dead center and the timing is good. anything else i could possibly check.

well, if the timing, fuel, and spark is there, then it should start haha

try some starting fluid
