Worked for me too...
I removed the tank from the frame, cleaned up the outside (there was some corrosion) and discovered 6 pinholes in the tank, all in the forward section. I guess it's from rocks and debris hitting there first??
I went to the local carwash and spent $5 (3 washes with soap and 2 washes to rinse). The tank looked pretty clean to me so I brought it home and let it air out for a week before I reinstalled.
I thought about buying an internal tank sealing kit but the price in Canada is prohibitive. As for the price charged by garages that "recondition" gas tanks, I can almost buy a new tank for the price.
Anyhow, I went to Canadian Tire and bought some pinhole sealing putty for $4 and I haven't had a leak since.
The weather was finally nice enough yesterday to swap my faulty carb for an eBay special and the truck started on the second try. Now all I have to do is check the idle and she'll be fine.
