I have a 93 B2600i, I have found that the MPV comes with the same motor as well as a V-6, I think it is a 3.0, I could be mistaken. Is there a big power difference between the two? What would it take to put a motor like that in my truck? Would the bell housings match?

You are correct, the MPV shares the 2.6l and also comes with a V6. It should bolt up to your trans. Wouldn't be surprised if the motor mounts bolted up too. Should be a very easy swap, especially since you're already injected. Do it!

As for power...
B2600i:
121 HP @ 4600, 149 lb-ft @ 3500

MPV V6 (JE)
155 HP @ 5000, 169 lb-ft @ 4000

... or, if you're willing to do some research, look into the 929 engine which a DOHC version of the MPV engine...

929 V6 (JED)
195 HP @ 5750, 200 lb-ft @ 3500

^^ Years of the 929 engine that'll swap?

How sure are ya about it "Bolting right up" Lime?

For mine I suppose I'd have to swap to the B2600i fuel tank and pump.

I only have data on 90-94, but they all have the JED engine. Gets a slight power bump in 92, before it was "only" 191 HP. May want to stick to earlier engines on the likelihood that things like alternators and such would interchange. On the other hand the 92+ gets better mileage.

I'd put money on the trans bolting up. The mounts are just speculation.

You'd need to put in EFI hardware. It'd be good to get it all from a donor, but parts can be had for cheap anyway. You can get a FI tank on ebay for about $100 shipped. Pump/sender assemblies can interchange from 86+ RX7s. Use your existing feed as a return and plumb a 3/8 line for feed, and you got fuel.

This is a pretty old post but I want to do this swap also. I can't find a lot of info on how to do this, but maybe someone on here can help me. I'd appreciate it.

I guess you pretty much are in the same boat as the rest of us. . . it's a thought in progress if you will. I'm still driving around my 2.6L cuz she's plenty healthy at the moment. The fact that I have four kids has made my 'burban my daily driver and the mazdawg just sits in the garage for now. I have been keepin' an eye out for that 929 engine, but not really lookin too hard. I don't have the time to do the "physical" research needed to get all the info to do this. You know, like comparing bellhousings, blocks, heads, coolant inlets/outlets, radiators, yada-yada-yada.... My mazdawg is a 93 FI so I assume I wouldnt have "TOO" much difficulty with it...

im interested in doing this one day as well...sounds like an easier option than the KIA swap and I see MPVs at the junkyard all the time. Anybody actually tried it yet?

yes, has anyone tryed this yet i would like to know as well

I'm close to getting started on this swap, I was really hoping someone on here would have completed it successfully. I know several people have completed this swap but it sounds like they are not on this forum.

I'll probably start with a JDM imported DOHC JE V6 (likely pulled from a 929). I think I'll need a engine loom and ECU from a 929 and probably some custom wiring to get that loom working in my '91 B2600i. Custom engine mounts?

Anyone know of any potentially easier swaps for this pickup? Like a newer 4cyl engine that'll run of the trucks existing ECU?

I know the rotary fits in there nice but I don't want to deal with that. I just want something that runs good enough that I forget about it.
