Ok i currently have a 90' b22 and from one of my dads friends working on it i have suffered a cracked head so i have taken the truck to someone that not just some joe mechanic that tells me everything is fine and gives my truck back to me with this shit.....

right now i have a whole 86 b2000 engine sitting on the side right now and was jsut wondering could/should i just swap in the head from it or just look for the proper 22head?

the B2000 head is a proper head for the B2200 since there the same head nothing about them is differnt the rockers are differnt but those you can swap or keep the manual ones which lots of peeps do.

Is the whole 86 B2000 engine any good?
If it is, just swap the whole engine if it were mine.
You will save on new headgasket, intake and exhaust gasket kit.

im currently in a process of rebuilding the 86' motor since its in my cousins parts truck and hes about to scrap it but i found a head for like $100 so i might just do that thanks for the suggestions guys

the bare head castings are the same, but the rest of the assemblies are different, one with manual lifters (b2000), and the other with hydraulic lifters (b2200) the oil passages on the b2200 setup are larger to provide more lubrication for the hyd lifter setup. so if you use a b2000 head and want to use the b2200 valve train, you will have to open up the the oil passages as explained on the site there is some very informative stuff on there about our engines. best bet is if you use a b2000 head, keep its valve train intact, if you use a b2200 head keep its valve train intact. some peeps like to use the manual lifters because the hydraulic ones have a tendency to get stopped up and you get the notorious mazda valve train tick. other than that, be careful of the $100 dollar head, it might be cracked as well....

good luck with the fix!!
