Alright my buddy has a 86 mazda b2000. He got it with no motor but a bad ass paint job and a showtime hydraulic setup on it. He traded most of a LT1 motor for a 91 mazda b2600i 4x4 and thought the motors would swap perfectly if he used his 86 2x4 tranny. well got the motor put in with a little motor mount customizing. and now the tranny doesnt bolt up... Does anyone know what tranny he needs? Would a 91 2x4 tranny 5 speed bolt up and work in his 86? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Do you guys think a salvage yard would trade him a tranny that will work for the 86 5 speed tranny and the 91 4x4 tranny?

the B2000 and B2200 have differnt drive trains than the B2600. so you would need (to do a complet swap) the 2600 motor (which you have) the b2600 tranny and drive shaft. the rear end should be the same and bolt up the same to the drive shaft (the length is what is differnt). you might also have to cut the floor were the tranny comes out maybe not but maybe so. or you can swap the 2600 motor for a 2.0 or 2.2 and use all the stuff you have now. and i think the 2.0 and 2.2 were better motors in the long run.

keep in mind there are B2600 and B2600i mazda pickups

B2600 is the same motor as the 2.6 Mitsu/D50 motors. the B2600i is a completely different block with fuel injection.

since you have the B2600i, you will need to get a B2600i transmission. I would try to find a B2600i 2wd truck. they are typically ext. cab trucks. and yes you will need the driveshaft as well. but you may have to get the other end of the driveshaft that bolts to the rear end it has now and get it grafted onto the 2600i driveshaft
