Aftermarket tach questions

Hi y'all

I want to install an aftermarket tach on my 87 B2000 but don't know what I should be looking for. I know I could get an instrument cluster with an integrated tach but don't want to go that route. I actually want to see the tach mounted on the dash, to the left of the instrument cluster.

Any suggestions?

Also, is installing a tach difficult?

AutoMeter makes excellent gauges including tachs. Very simple to install, one wire from coil, a wire for light source in tach. They have stand alones or in gauge pacs.

Hey man i have performance equiis tach and guages in my mazda. I have the 350 in my truck but all i had to do was hook a power up for the light and the other wire connected straight to the distributor cap.

green wire to coil
white wire to Illumination
Red wire is power
and blackis ground its simple...
