Hey dudes,
Just picked up a cab plus 87 b2000. in pieces, need's some more stuff done, and put together, but for 500 bucks? can't beat it. I can put some stuff about it up once I finally get it home safe and sound, it sits about 40 mins away now.

What's the feasability of a chevy small block 350 with a turbohydro 350 transmission going into this chassis? I know the distributor may have some clearance issues, but what about after a 3.5" body drop?

Thanks in advance,
Alan

it will fit, theres a guy around the house that has one in his mazda, but as for with a 3.5" bd......you'd probably have to fab a new tranny tunnel & have to put a cowl on your hood.....anything is possible!

very true, also depending on what size wheel you run you might have to tub the firewall

i figured a cowl hood would be needed. okay, thanks guys. i did have another question, but my mind just went blank....

you will need to work the firewall and tranny tunnel over. MY truck had a 350 in it for a while with a th350. I have a 3" bodydrop. Truck has the 4banger back in it for now. Im going to be putting a ford 302 in it with a 5 speed.

You might be able to get the 350 to fit under the stock hood.. a guy on s10forum got one to fit under the stock hood of his s10, which was bodydropped 5". I believe he used a torker2 intake manifold. milled the lip off the carb, and ran like a 1/2" tall air cleaner. i forgot exactly what he did.

how well do you think that 302 will fit? I actually have one layin around. just gotta find a tranny.

what for rear end do you have? how the hell did it hold up to v8 power?
thanks!

not sure on the 302.. i really havent mached anythin up yet.. probly wont be tearing it apart till the winter.

For the rear end it had a narrowed camaro 7.5" rear in it

Drivetrain is back to stock right now, because my rims are 6 lug. and i love em too much to part with em right now.. But this winter its gettin laidout over 20s and 22s, so thats when im plannin on doin the motor swap

well, let me know if you want to part with those wheels at any time. I'm keeping mine 6 lug if possible, might be getting a set of those black american racing wagon wheels in 15" Tires are reeeeall cheap, and with a v8, I'm sure to kill them rather quickly.

I have a 351w in mine, i'd say go FORD! It will be tuff to get it to fit under a stock hood though, im just bagged and my oil pan bolts 3/4" off the ground and i can't fit uner a stock hood! As for a rear the mazda rear's decently strong as long at u have a 5spd or overdrive b/c its geared so low right now im in the process of redoing my 4 link, bags, and rear shocks to put a chopped down 98 ford mustang 8.8 rear with disc brakes and lsd...

ok i know this is kinda dumb question, but the th350 tranny is the 3 speed automatic tranny right? if it is then i beleave that's the set up i have in mine. i don't know the details and specs on what i have since i just bought the truck for a 1K and i deploy less than a month from now. i do know i have a chevy 350 with a 3 speed auto , but no fire wall mods have been done to it. it does have a custom drive shaft though. now here are the draw back that i have with it.

1) stock speedo is out of wack, baddly!
2) stock fuel guage works when it wants to (gotta fix that)
3) NO A/C, just heat!!!!! (i hate that chit! i get enough heat in afghanistan lol)
4) no power steering
5) an electrical mess of extra stock wires that don't hook up to anything!!!!!
6) the stock leaf spring packs started to seperate due to the torqe of the motor wearing out the busings
7) starts to over heat at idle in traffic even with the electrical fan running constently.

here's my solutions for all those when i return -

1) all new guages (speedo, tach, fuel, volt, and temp)
2) getting a new sending unit
3) haven't figured out what aftermarket a/c unit i will go with, but there will be a new one added though.
4) i will look at using a chevy power steering pump with custom lines.
5) i'm going to re-wire the whole truck with a 12-16 point universal wiring harness from painless wiring
6) three words I'M BAGGING IT!!!!
7) i'm getting a three core aluminum radiator with a 14" electric fan, electric water pump (with higher flow rate than manual pump), and to run engine ice for a coolant.

if you need any pix just let me know and i'll post them for you. when i get back i'll do my research and do step by step instructions on everything i do (with pix) for everyone.
