im wondering if a small mitsubishi turbo would work out for my 2600 would i have to change the computer. im not going to run very much boost. but
how much do you think the motor could handle. if i do this i know about making a turbo header

you could make it work, you would deff. need a stand alone ecu as the factory could have the fuel / air mix wrong all the time. as far as boost probably no more than 8 psi max unless the motor has been reworked with stronger internals. it would be a sweet mod tho!

what is a stand alone ecu and how would i go about gettin one

a stand a lone replaces the factory ecu (computer) then you hook up the wiring to it, it will allow you to adjust fuel / air mix, timing & other things with a laptop. megasquirt makes one & several other companies just can't think of them off the top of my head tho.

ridinlow, did you know that the exhaust manifolds off the 2.2L mx6 and ford probe will bolt straight onto your block, but has clearance issues with other stuff ie steering, air cond pumps. As far as stand alone cpu check out Microtech.

well im going to put that turbo on my truck now but i only want to run about 4 psi would that mess with my ecu but i just want to see what u guys have on advise my buddy said that it would work

Find a 2600 Mitsu motor and then find a wrecked Mitsu Starion or Conquest Tsi,use the injection and turbo or transplant the whole motor and fuel management system.200+ horse power with no mods and God only knows how much modded.That ought to jerk u sideways.The turbo off a 4 banger Mitsu diesel (I think it is a TD16 ) will also work.BJ
