In the morning the truck runs and drives great. When it starts getting hot outside, it just dies while I am driving it. Everything just cuts out, electrical and everything (I usually know it dies when the stereo shuts off). Sometimes it will start right back up, but after another couple of minutes of driving, it dies again. Sometimes I have to try several times to start it before it stays running.

Is there an overheating cutoff if the truck gets too warm? Is there a sensor for that? It has a new radiator, thermostat, water pump and fan clutch. Doesn't say it's getting hot, but maybe the cutoff sensor is bad (if it has one).

Any other ideas to look into? It is a 1989 2600i.

No sensor that I am aware of.I have a 1990 2600i that did the same thing.Bad computer. They are known for having issues with the comupter after about 100k on the truck. If u take the computer out from the passenger side kick panel and open it up look and see if the board has a burned spot on a connector. That was causing my truck to just stop running unexpectedly.Found a new computer plugged it in and truck was fine. BJ

Well, it turned out to be a bad ignition switch. I guess when it got warm out, things were just loosening up and not making contact.

Glad u got ur ride fixed.Usually when air temp gors up things expand and get tighter, not looser.U may have had a short in the ignition that showed up ehen it got hot and load on the switch increased.Anyway, back on the road.BJ
