hey guys i just bought another mazda when i bought it it was having a overheating problem so i pulled the thermastate out and the thing kept on over heating so i took it to a freind and he said the headgasket was gone so i took the head in and had it machined and the headgasket changed i got it back and it was running mint until today i took it for a long drive and the tempature gage started to go really high above average today was a really hot day but i think there is something still wrong with it does anyone have any advise thanks.

Did u have the head checked for cracks when it was out? The 2.6's were known for cracked heads..

Check your Rad too...on the inside, it maybe deuterating, And could cause it to overheat...or run on the H side, which isnt letting the air though the Rad fins to cool the coolant, etc.

Did u put thermostat back in when u took it out?Mazda trucks use a two stage thermostat-one stage opens at 160 deg and the other at 180..They also do not like aftermarket thermos.Replace it and see what happens.

I would start by making sure the thermostate is working properly and facing the right direction. And go from there by doing a full radiator flush and if the problem continues, check the water pump and head.
