Have Holley 2300 and its running like SH!T

Ok ive had my holley 2300 carb in for a bit now because my stock carb idle was stuck on high... Anyways i got these tool and die makers to make me the adapter plates for the carb to the intake and after i got a new head in(my old one was cracked) the engine was running bueatiful a little rich but still good... Then after driving all day as i was just about to get home and park my truck i was just idling down a hill and it died...made it to the lights and started it back up and if i didnt give gas it would die so having to keep this restarting/giving gas technique i finally got home... I know i heard a whistling noise a couple days before so i replaced the hoses(not with new hoses just off a parts truck) to test that out and still the engine shakes like crazy before quickly dying out.... i took off the carb and check the adapters and one of the gaskets were ripped so i made up a new one, replaced it and tightened everything back up....still same thing i check my spark plugs i recently changed and they were black so i know im running rich...tried to adjust the idle on the carb and still runs like shit....PLEASE SOMEONE HELP need this thing running for Scrape by the Lake next on the 20th

the only thing i can think of is the internals of the carb is f'd up or those adapters have a leak...does anyone know if the weber 32/36 adapter will work for this carb ?

WHEN YOU REPLACED THE GASKET DID YOU USE ANY RTV SEALER? IF THERE IS ANY LEAKS AROUND THE ADAPTER THAT MIGHT SEAL IT UP. ONCE ANY LEAKS ARE STOPPED, GET THE PLUGS CLEANED REAL GOOD, PUT THEM BACK IN & ADJUST THE IDLE TO @800 RPM & ADJUST THE MIXTURE SCREW SO IT ISN'T SO RICH, BUT DON'T LEAN IT OUT TOO FAR AS ENGINE DAMAGE COULD RESULT...

ok so i found out i messed up my internals in the carb after a few back fires through it so looks like time for a good ol rebuild or time to get a new one....ANYONE HAVE ONE IN THE GTA??????really would like to make it to scrap by the lake
