High idle..

I picked up a carb from my buddy for my truck. I know its good cause he just took it off when he got a weber.

I got it on and the truck runs, but I cant get it to idle at all. Ive adjusted the idle screw & nada. It runs really high. I can burb the throttle & it'll drop for a second & shoot back up. Kinda at a loss.. hmmm

This carb had 2 extra outlets Im guessing for vacum hoses that i plugged if that make a differance.

*Its blowin white smoke and I can smell fuel like it's flooding out.

it could be that your coke is stuck on if u push open the choke and at the same time pull the throttle all the way up it should disengae your choke and then if you pull the throuttle up again it should relaese your choke bakc down make sure that the idle screw in the back is turn down check that the float is at a normal level jus duble check every thing its something simmple make sure all ur wires a re hooked up

check your vacuum lines. make sure you did not leave one out. vacuum leak will typically change idle, up or down
