I have a 1987 mazda b2000 and I was wondering what transmission we have. there is a company that makes tranny adapter plates and I want to see if they make one for mine to mount a mopar 318 too, even if I have to swap it with an rx7 bellhousing.

the ones that mount to chrysler V8's are:

1989 onwards Ford 0509-Mazda T3500 to Chrysler V8 & Hemi 6
Pre ‘89 Ford 0509-Mazda T3500 to Chrysler V8 & Hemi 6
Mazda E2700/Chrysler

if any of these are the tranny for a b2000 or an rx7 please let me know, this would help me very much for putting mopar power into my truck.

They make ford adapters too, as well as chevy 4.3 and v8's and a heck of a lot more.

does anyone know what the tranny is in an 88 4x4 mazda. I know it has a mitsubishi bellhousing, but what is the tranny?

thanks,
Mike

87-88 B2600 4x4 had Mitsu engine amd tranny.89 up used a Mazda engine but not sure if they retained the Mitsu tranny or not.Historically Mazda and Mitsu have used parts from each other frequently. The tranny in the 2000/2200 series both auto and 4-5 speed are good up to about 175 hp/fpt and after that they will probably grenade. If u r goint to swap a Mopar engine, why not use the Torqueflite trannya s well? I do know the 2200 a/t is used in both the truck and 1st gen RX-7,so if u r going to swap,I would use the a/t rather than the 5 speed.BJ
