Bump>Missed part of ur question. As regards upgrades there sre some.Webber makes a couple of carb upgrades.Pacesetter makes a header (some question about coating quality).FlexALite makes several electric fans that allow better cooling and getting rid of factory shroud, fan and fan clutch.MAgna Flow makes a better cat and muffler.BellTech makes a great reaR SWAY/TRACTION BAR.U can get slotted/slotted and drilled rotors and ceramic pads.Tokico and others make really good shocks. There are not many engine upgrades unless u want to go to somebody like Paeco and have them build u one.Cheapest Stage 1 from them (150 hp or so) is 3500 . NYTRD on this site may have other suggestions as will others.Hope this helps. BJ

motor wise....just 5.0 302 swap.

I don't want to do a v8 swap!! I really don't see the point in a big motor in a little truck-just my opinion bash me if you want.

how about a v-6. i am throwing around the idea of a 4.3L or a V-8. but if you want to rebuild the 2.2 it isn't hard at all. if you buy a rebuilt head either make sure they install new lifters or go buy new lifters to install. if you rebuild everything yourself, do it right the first time and replace everything. if you do not have emissions laws definitely go with a weber and a pacesetter. i bored mine out just 20 over with a redline carb, and 2.5 inch exhaust and get pretty damn good gas mileage. i think that you can bore it out up to 60 over, but not real sure on that. anyways, take your time and do it right and that 2.2L will last you forever.

who is the best company to buy parts from for a rebuild..I just want to get another engine and rebuild it, my motor seems ok it just fells tired.

why do you want another engine....so you can keep on the road with the one that's in it till you get the other one built? be careful finding a suitable engine to build...check the head over good as they are proned to cracking & warping.....

as far as rebuild kits....look for felpro gasket kits...i got my hp rebuild kit from
i think it was a little high tho as the gaskets were ajusa & i know the felpros are better quality....

it just depends on what you want from the motor as far as hp & reliability. there are several goodies that hocbj23 mentioned which are deff. worth the $$ & there are several routes that you can take on the engines.....kia sportage swap (better head), turbo setup, supercharged, naturally aspirated.....if you'll let me know a little more of what you are lookin for, i'll be able to better direct you where to look.
