ever since i bought this truck it's hard to find reverse.... i have to cram the clutch to the floor and ease on the gas barely to here it shift into reverse. and sometimes that trick doesnt work, and it makes a grinding noise....

now 1,2,3,4,5 or fine but reverse is scrwedup....could this be the synchronizers going bad or have already went bad.... if so do they make a transmission rebuild kit???

would i be better off rebuilding or finding a trans????

thanks guys

try shifting into fourth before moving over into reverse.
I have done this for years - dunno what it does - lines up the synchro's or something ?? give it a try anyway.

I have always heard manual transmissions don't have a syncro for reverese thats why they grind, Mine grinds when going into reverse to I just pop the cluch a little seems to do the trick.

My 86 did not have rev somethings I heard that can cuase it are

bad pilot berring
and bad input shaft berring

now mine was gone all the way it would take it but as soon as you let out the clutch it would pop out.
