Weber carb question?

Is it normal for a Weber carburetor to make a loud hissing sound under acceleration?

is it a hissing sound or like a sucking sound a vaccum would make? if its like a vaccum, mine did it while it was running. remember you have a more open carb now, so you will hear more of the intake sounds,

if it is hissing not like a vaccum, then I have no idea.

that is kind of normal, if it is excesive then something could be wrong, but its prolly normal. If you were to put a filter box to enclose the top of the carb, you would not hear the sucking sound. I am going to creat a snorkel for my 4x4 soon, once I put it on, I wont hear the sucking sound anymore.

I have the filter on and I can hear it loud and clear while I am driving.

it does it with the filter on too. My 71 valiant with a one barrel on it does it too. with the filter box on, you dont hear nothing, but I started driving with the cover off, and I could hear the sucking.

K&N cone filters do the same thing, that is their whole thing in commercials, "you can hear the performance"

if it bothers you, and you have the stock airbox from the stock carb, you can modify it to fit over the weber and it should take care of the sound.

It has the Weber air filter unit, the small rectangle box. The noise dosen't bother me. I didn't know if the new carb that I bought had a problem. Any more info would be great.

the rectangle box is still considered an open filter cuase the filter is exposed, it it was all boxed in and had a little inlet, it would be a closed unit, but all I can tell you is my truck does the same thing as my other carbed vehicles. what ur hearing is the carb sucking air thru the filter, if you do find out there is something wrong, let me know cuase I will have to do something to mine then also.

there is nothing wrong, that is just the sound of the carb sucking air through the filter.any open filtered unit will sound like that. mine does it too on my mitsu with a weber
