Hi everybody. I Just got a rebuilt 2.2 for my mazda. Getting the engine in is no big deal. its the carb/intake im worried about. i disconnected everything. and 1/2 of the vacuum lines and shit crumbled. So im getting a weber. But i need to know what i do need to keep. Also, the intake has a bunch of little vacuum conections from the looks of it, so with a weber do i just block them off??? Any help would be appreciated. Im used to working on thunderbird SC's, this carb thing is screwing with me. Oh, im getting a header too, and its a 91 automatic. Thanks in advance for any info relating to this subject.

If the header is a PAcesetter,u will need to flatten the last tube to clear the flange on u r automatic tranny.BJ

like bj said, you will have to clearance the short piece to clear the tranny, no biggie tho. as far as the carb situation, the vac openings on the mani, get some vac caps & plug them. the only thing you should need on the passenger side of the firewall will be the wiring for the wiper motor, & part of the harness that runs to the alternator & main fuse block, but to be sure, only remove one wire at a time, or disconnect on item at a time.

Now does that include the vacuum canister? If anyone has any pics of that area after cleanup it would be greatly appreciated...

most people do remove the vac cannister, but you can leave it, or so i'm told....i don't have any pics readily available, but look back in the engine section for weber installs, there are some good pics in them.....

Only problem with taking the black vacuum cannister off is u may get a fuel smell in ur truck cause that cannister takes fumes from the tank and runs them thru charcoal and recycles them back thru the carb.bj
