today i adjusted the valves, timing, and holley 5200 carb., and also cleaned the spark plugs. the valves were way off. it gets a hell of a lot more power now but still has some issues. when i pulled the distributer cap off everything was soaked in oil. does anyone know where the o-ring goes or if there is a kit to rebuild the distributer? there is an o-ring on the outside of the shaft to keep the oil from coming out of the block but i need to know where the one is inside the dist.

also, my carb. is haveing some issues. i need to adjust the fuel, it is running to rich, and i don't know where the screw is. i think it is behind a plug right below the fuel inlet but not real sure. i know that holley puts a plug over there fuel controls so that no one will screw with them, so i am thinking that this is it.

the truck diesels when i kill it. so tomorrow i am going to buy new plugs, but i know that the problem also lies in the carb. running to rich and the dist. getting oil in it.

anyone have any experience here? thanks.

I believe that there is only one o-ring on the dist and that is the one u have located. There are always rebuilt dist on E-Bay.If the truck diesels or "runs on",I wouldbe sure and check timing again, should be 6 degress BTDC.I would also run some Seafoam in my gas tank as u may have some carbon build up that is getting hot and causing truck to diesel>

i believe that there is more than that one o-ring. that o-ring is only there to keep the oil from coming out of the block. i believe there is another inside the distributer that keeps the oil from coming through the shaft up to the rotor.

i ran a can of berryman's b12 through the gas tank. but i may go ahead and try the seafoam as well.

i really don't want to buy a dist. unless i have too. i would much rather buy an o-ring and fix it myself. i may have to go to a mazda dealer this week and check it out.

i have an old broken distributor for an 84 i will take it apart and see if i can find a seal on the inside if you think they will be the same

I keep forgettin u r talkin about a 2000 not a 2200,U may be right,I know there is the one that keeps oil from leaking out of the block externally.I thoght the other one was actually on the dist shaft itself-not inside.Could be wrong .BJ

i believe they are the same if it is a 2.0. what is wrong with the dist.?

Hey you if you would have reminded me I have some o-rings that came with my kit when I did the top end... I would have given em to you if that is all you need
