88 B2600 4x4 questions

Been reading the forums and have gotten many questions answered but have a few more:

1) My engine is very tired and is making a grinding sound. Timing chain?

2) I'm looking to buy a new engine and just drop it in. Will the G6 engine fit? Or do I have to stick with the G54B?

3) Putting a weber carb on it. Does the 38 DGES give it quite a bit more power over the 32/36 DFEV?

I'm in Calgary so it is a bit harder to get these parts. Can anyone direct me to some online parts sites that ship to Canada?

i am getting rid of my old 2600 motor if there is any parts you might need.

i live in victoria so shipping wouldn't be too bad.

A bit more info on the grinding noise.....

It grinds and vibrates at idle and up to 2800 rpm, then the noises go away and it runs smooth. Anyone??

Did some investigating and found that the exhaust manifold was loose. Runs a bit better, but still assuming the noise is the timing chain. Hey phat, I may be PMing you for some parts soon.

May be the chain or there is a tensioner in there that may be the culprit.BJ

I'm taking a look after xmas. Got a quote to rebuild at a local shop, 1750. Assuming the head isn't warped. I think this will be the avenue I take. Less hassle. NOW i can buy the 38 carb!
