I'm way more familiar with the mazda b series engines than the f series and people keep saying that you can put a 12 valve head on an 8 valve bottom end without mention of changing pistons? Am I misinterpreting or is this how it it? In the b engines this is far from possible without the piston swap as well.

u deff. have to change the pistons to i was gonna run a 12 valve on my motor but didnt want to change the pistons cn as they where brand new but yes changing the pistons is a must as far as i know

thanks. that makes sence

the mazda engines (f2 blocks) all have pistons with 3 valve reliefs on the pistons, the only reason that you should have or want to swap the pistons it to change the compression ratio.

First of all, a b series mazda engine is a f block- FE, F2, F2T, FE3, etc. The head from a 12 valve motor will bolt onto a FE, F2 engine, pistons are not an issue- unless you want to change CR. Have fun getting that 12 valve FWD intake a Distributor to fit your RWD FE, F2 motor though-

Solution? Mazda Bongo van motor from Canada or overseas! It's the 12 valve head- FE engine- 1.8 liter, fuel injected, setup for RWD, intake goes over top of manifold, distributor is in the same location as a b series mazda truck head.

Any other info available on this? does this head/ intake bolt on etc?

bongo motor- head bolts on, intake manifold flange is same as a 12 valve motor- cause it's a 12 valve head. Exhaust is obviously just the same as our trucks- and cars- they are all the same.

I was going to use a probe GT bottom end, the 2.2 F2T with the bongo top end and use the probe EMS system to create an F2T RWD all mazda motor- But I'm going to just use the 1.8 bottom end that the bongo comes with- use MS EMS, and MSD ignition, and put some boost to it.

I've only ever heard of bongo's through car importers

wouldn't it work to use an fi f2 mani with f2t injectors possibly tb as well?

hook me up I wan't to do it. Trying to find parts on the net is a joke. I found a motor on ebay but it is to much coming from Ontario can. All I want is the complete head and carb intake.
