i was reading my mazda book and it said that there are 2 options rvt or a gasket but it dosn't tell how to determain if you need one or not

cork gasket with rtv to hold it in place. do not install the rtv on the entire pan just on a few spots to hold it in place. you should be able to get the gasket at your local auto parts store for under 10 bucks.

thanks i all ready got the gasket just didn't know if i needed it or not cus book said theres 2 options rvt or cork and when i took it off all it had was rvt

You are right, the book and mazda says just use rtv... that's all the factor had on it- and that's all I use on them-

Cork is going to absorb oil and leak like a bitch- throw that cork away!

i allready instaled it with a little rvt on it

i have never had a problem with the cork gaskets leaking. unless i reused one. i've done that before and it didn't work out too well.

I think you will be okay, just keep an eye on it!

Cork isn't the best gasket, but its a lot better than nothing. I would have picked up a Fel-Pro Permadry gasket!

Good Luck!
