Im looking in my haynes manual and the stupid thing doesn't tell you how to adjust the lifters! I know I need a feeler gauge but where am I putting it and what are the specs for the intake and exhaust? Does the engine have to be at TDC? Valve lash is the measurement between the lifter and the valve stem?? Help please!!

just turn the motor over till there is no presser on the valve you wont to adjust (the cam lobe for that valve is not touching the lifter). then put the feeler gauge between the lifter and the valve steam. It will take you a few min to get used to it but all and all its not to hard. If you don't know how to use feeler gauges then let someone that does show you first. that way you know what to look for. and how it feels to use the gauge.

K thanks thats what I was thinking. What should clearance be on an 87 2.O?

I got mine set as .007 intake .008 on the other.

I believe the valve clearance for manual adjustable rockers on the 2.0 liter mazda fe engine is .030 inches for intake and exhaust- WARM! adjust the valves only when warm on this engine. Turn the motor to tdc #1 and adjust half of the intake and half of the exhaust, and then turn to tdc #2 and do the rest, the loose ones.

Thaks its .006 intake and .007-.008 exhaust. And you do intake one and two and exhaust one and three at top dead center on the number one cylinder and intake three and intake four and exhaust two and exhaust four at top dead center on the fourth cylinder. Figured it out. Makes since if you think about the firing order.
