Not sure if this is it or not but i just bought another mazda and its an 88 2200 and theres no other problems than this but its wanting to die while driving. There are no idle problems or missfiring but it just seems its losing power some how. I first noticed it when I was driving home i was doing 60 and it just died lost all power. The last owner told me he pulled out the ignition and cleaned it and it ran fine for a while but im just cerious if anyone has had the same problem or know whats going on before i drop alot of money on a new ignition.

pull the cap off see if there is oil in the cap.. if so cleen with brake cleaner and replace seal under disty.. sounds like bad plug wires or fuel filter to me

how did it lose all power? did all electrical power go out, or did it just shut off?

If u rule out connectivity problems in the switch and electrics, there is an igniter in the dist that goes bad occasionally-might be that. When it goes,it goes and u got nada-no dash lites, no powerno nothing.BJ
