ok i got a gm one wire a few months ago and it doesnt seem to be charging i noticed there where terminals on the side of the alternator like a for a plug do those need to be hooked up any where or do u jus hook up that one wire to the battery

there are plugs on most gm's, plus the wire that goes on the stud.

i have one on mine too and it wouldn't charge just runnin the 1 wire so i have to wire and use the plug too...

The GM one-wire alternator will not charge after the engine is started.
You have to rev it up to activate the internal regulator in the alternator.
After that, it should start charging.
If it does not charge in idle, you may need to speed up the alternator by reducing the pulley diameter.

It becomes a 3-wire if you hook up the battery wire, voltage sensing wire and ignition/warning lamp power wire.
