i was kind of curious as well..I am gettin to that point where i need to look into it as well...I am doin a rebuild on my 2200. Anybody make a decent engine kit for these things?? If i am taking it to bare block, then i am punchin the sumbitch..probly like .030 or .040 over...and cam the shit out of it..

ZakkWylde,
here is a good place to get the webers:

about the cheapest reputable dealer i've found + their real helpful.

you can find the headers @ several places, here are a few good ones:

blazerpimp,
let me say first off, your better off getting your stuff to rebuild separtate, i've only found one place that offers a total rebuild kit & that is importperformanceparts.net mentioned above for the header. reason i say this is you can get a felpro master gasket kit for under $300, then get the other stuff & come out cheaper with better quality parts than in a kit.

there are several routes you can take on your rebuild, you say you want to bore it & put a hotter cam......one thought to consider would be are you going to ever want to boost it? if so you don't want to get a higher comp ratio piston & try to boost it, so you can run a lower comp ratio piston till then & be alright....stock bore on our engines is 86mm, i went to an 87mm which is @ .040 over...i wouldn't go much farther than that, as for your cam, send it to paeco industires in b'ham al, they can grind your cam to your specs, no one makes a new cam, they all are regrinds of oe cams, fastfreddy's sells them, but they have them ground by delta cams in tacoma washington. it is better to use the cam from your head as it is the one that was in it & you know where it came from, i will suggest having it cryo-treated if you have it ground, that can be done here metal-wear.com.

if you have any q's on more specifics let me know i'll be glad to help!

also if your gonna bore it & go with a big cam your gonna need a bigger carb & i don't think the new 34 would offer enough adjustibility, i have a 38 brand new for sale, never installed i got from racetep.com with a home made cai, here is a link to my for sale thread

and one to my gallery that has some pics of the cai & carb kit...

let me know if your interested.....

the 90 b2200 header is same as 87 b2000 right? only diff is deck hight? will it fit?
blazerpimp   +1y
Yeahi was thinkin of gettin the 38 i knew the 34 or the 32/36 may be a lil small. I am not gonna boost it..im not tryin to make this truck haul ass..i just want a lil more power and that lumpy ass idle...i probly wont go nuts on the piston..like you said..i wil probly go like .040 and keep the compression semi modrate...i drive my truck to shows...no matter how far... so i would like to keep the gas bill some what in check..lol

ZakkWylde,

yeah, the header will fit, no probs unless it's an auto tranny, then some slight modifications will need to be made where you connect to the stock exhaust.

BlazerPimp,
parts america sells ae/clevite pistons in 0.040 over & a set of premium rings for under $250.00....& they also have the ae/clevite bearings & such too. you will have to be careful with the lift of the cam, too much & your valves will be into the pistons.....mine is a 262 duration w/ .420 lift & was said to work with the stock pistons, i could have gone with a 272 duration came w/ the same lift, but i too was wanting to be contious about the gas thing.... with increasing the bore, it should drop the comp ration slightly, you could mill the head slightly & have the piston valve reliefs clearanced for the cam & that would save you from having to buy a set of custom pistons, & slightly raise your comp ratio, say in the area of 9.0:1 which isn't much higher than stock.....i would also suggest getting some new valve springs because of the added lift of the cam, paeco sells some hi-rpm ones for a decent price that won't bind @ higher rpms...that coupled with a digital ignition system like an accel or msd & you'd be in good shape.
