not a mazda but i liek you guys so i thought i'd ask. im having an issue with my car and im told its the ignition but i seek a second opinion just to make sure. the car runs fine and starts the majority of the time but sometimes ill put the key in and turn it and all is well and it turns over but just will not fire. most of the time when the key goes in just right its perfect.. so am i replacing the entire ignition?

To check ignition switch, turn it ON but do not start.
Then check for voltage at the ignition coil positive. If you get voltage your ignition switch is fine.
If not, it could be bad ignition switch or the main relay is going out.

Check for spark.
Pull the spark plug wire from #1 spark plug.
Put an extra spark plug on the wire and lay it on the chassis ground.
Ask a friend to start it up and check for spark at the plug.
If you don't get spark, ignition module or ignition coil is bad.

Check for fuel rail fuel pressure.
No pressure, bad fuel pump. But I doubt it.
Honda/Acura fuel pumps last a long time.
