MSD?

Well I'm fairly new to this site and the whole mazda trucks SO lets see if you can help me. I hava used MSD 6AL and i was wondering how to hook it up to these trucks. It worked fine on my s10 and msd had pics of how to hook it up for that but on there site all I can find is for general import hook up. Oh by the wasy my truck is an 86 B2000. and help would be greatly appricated (sp) thanks dave

you might have to switch over to a hei ignition like of of a chevy not shure tho there is a good post somewhere on mx6.com on how to do it..like i said im not shure

it should hook up as it says for a points type in the install instructions
heavy red / battery +
heavy black / battery -
red / original coil +
white / original coil -
orange / new coil +
black / new coil -
violet & green / not used unless you want to use an anti theft swith, in which case, run a wire from the violet to a toggle switch, then off the other side of the switch to a good ground....vehicle will turn over but not crank.

if your tach doesn't work, you will have to buy a tach adaptor p/n 8910
make sure you have it set for 4 cyl application, you have to cut the red & blue loop on the soft touch rev control, again per the instructions.

Thanks alot. I dont have a tach so dont have to worry about that. one more question does it matter that I have like 3 wires on the negative side of coil and like 4 on the positive

no prob, glad to help.

are you talking about the wires on the factory coil?
if so, the ones on the postive side of the factory coil will hook to the red of the 6al, the ones on the negative side will hook up to the white from the 6al.
then you will hook the orange to the + of the msd blaster coil, and the black to the - of the blaster coil.
